Nepal’s devastating floods have left families facing an agonising choice — performing the final rites for loved ones who are still missing and whose bodies have not been recovered. In Nuwakot, one of the worst-hit districts, families are holding symbolic funerals for relatives presumed dead. Along the Trishuli River, priests place straw effigies representing the missing and perform Hindu cremation rituals, allowing families to offer a final farewell despite having no bodies to recover.
