Video Shows Moment 7.1-Magnitude Quake Hits During Surgeries At Japan Hospital

Almost two weeks after a magnitude 7.1 quake hit Japan’s southern main island of Kyushu, aid has been delivered and volunteers have gathered to help from other parts of the country. In Uki, one of the worst-hit areas in Kumamoto Prefecture, over 100 volunteers queued to be assigned their task at a registration camp. According to Uki City Council of Social Welfare, pre-registration system was launched on 1 August, and volunteers were sent to the city hall to help unloading aid from the following day. 150 to 200 volunteers sign up daily since 6 August, an official from Uki City Council of Social Welfare told the Associated Press. The U.S. Forces Japan announced that a total of about 33,000 bottles of drinking water was airlifted Sunday to the Japanese Ground Self-Defence Force’s Vice Camp Takayubaru in Kumamoto.
