A 12-year-old boy lost his life and two of his family members sustained injuries after a portion of an ageing residential building collapsed in Azad Nagar’s Brahmand locality in Thane, Maharashtra on Friday. The collapse occurred at around 3:35 pm at Madras Chawl, when part of the 25 to 30-year-old ground-plus-one-storey structure gave way, trapping those inside. A rescue operation was immediately launched following the incident, with officials working to clear the debris and assist the injured.Â
