Over 579 people have been killed and around 2,400 are missing after a massive flash flood hit Nepal this week, washing away villages and many project sites in a region bordering Tibet. Earlier, Chinese state media confirmed five deaths, taking the total killed to at least 584. Nepal ordered rescuers searching for survivors of deadly floods to get to safety as it reported a debris dam had burst in Tibet on Friday, bringing risks of new torrents. Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority said 14,829 security personnel have been mobilised for search and rescue operations. So far, 3742 people have been rescued.
