National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, has cancelled its September 12 convocation, citing “unavoidable circumstances,” amid controversy over the proposed attendance of Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Bar Council of India chairman Manan Kumar Mishra. Hundreds of students and alumni had opposed their participation, citing concerns over comments and institutional dignity. NLSIU said students will receive degrees in absentia, either by courier or on campus, while denying any punitive action against protesting students.
