Scientists now believe Nepal’s devastating flood disaster began with a massive glacier collapse high in the Himalayas near the Nepal-China border. The collapse unleashed an enormous avalanche of ice, rock and debris, which transformed into a deadly flood wave that tore through valleys, rivers, roads and settlements at extraordinary speed.
