Google is introducing a new programme that will let eligible third-party Android app stores in the US surface apps from the Play Store beginning July 22. Participating marketplaces must meet Google’s security, privacy and marketplace requirements and pay an annual review fee of $5,000 (roughly Rs. 4,81,400). Although apps can be discovered through third-party stores, downloads will continue to be processed through Google Play. The move follows Google’s compliance with a US court order.
