The NEET paper leak controversy triggered nationwide outrage, student protests and ultimately cost Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan his job. Now the issue has reached Parliament. The government has unveiled a two-pronged response – a high-powered task force to overhaul the National Testing Agency and a tough new Anti-Paper Leak Bill proposing jail terms of up to 10 years, fines of up to ₹50 lakh, fast-track investigations and harsher penalties for organised exam rackets. But is this the comprehensive reform students demanded, or is it damage control after a crisis that exposed deep flaws in India’s examination system?
