Two separate attacks on crypto bridges operated by AFX and Verus Protocol resulted in more than $31.6 million in stolen assets within seven hours. Blockchain security firm Blockaid detected both incidents, with investigators pointing to compromised validator keys in the AFX exploit rather than flaws in smart contracts. The attacks underscore the persistent security challenges facing cross-chain bridges, one of the most frequently targeted sectors in decentralised finance.
