Political speculation over a possible BJP–Shiromani Akali Dal alliance is gaining momentum after the Akali Dal backed the Women’s Reservation Bill and the proposed delimitation exercise. Sukhbir Singh Badal said the party supports both measures while calling for equal representation. The BJP welcomed the stand, with Kiren Rijiju urging the two parties to come together, while Congress’s Amarinder Singh Raja Warring accused the Akali Dal of seeking an alliance for political survival.
