A new HirePro report reveals that India’s shift to skills-first hiring is progressing slowly, with only 21% of companies completely removing academic scores from campus recruitment. The study highlights a significant gap between students’ confidence in their job readiness and employers’ expectations, with most companies saying graduates need additional training. Employers are increasingly prioritising practical skills, problem-solving, cultural fit and learning agility over academic performance alone.
