A visit to Malaysia by Thailand’s prime minister took a musical turn on Thursday as the leaders of both countries performed together, adding a light-hearted moment to the official proceedings. The performance came during bilateral talks between Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya. Video released by the Thai Prime Minister’s Office showed Anutin playing “My Way” on the saxophone, the classic song made famous by Frank Sinatra. Backed by a live band, the Thai leader tapped his foot and swayed to the music as he performed. Anwar then joined in, singing the song’s lyrics while Anutin stepped off the stage, continuing to play alongside his Malaysian counterpart to the delight of those watching. Beyond the musical interlude, the two leaders also marked a diplomatic breakthrough by resolving a long-running fisheries dispute after their agriculture ministers signed a memorandum of understanding. Malaysia had previously imposed temporary restrictions on imports of certain prawn species from Thailand.
