The Judicial Commission’s report on the 2024 Sambhal violence has been tabled in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, making several significant observations about the clashes that left four people dead.
According to the report, the violence was the result of a pre-planned conspiracy. The Commission has referred to the alleged role of several individuals, including MP Zia-ur-Rehman Barq and Suhail Iqbal, son of MLA Iqbal Mehmood. It also stated that misinformation about the mosque survey was spread among members of the Muslim community, leading to tensions.
