Indian weightlifting icon Saikhom Mirabai Chanu delivered yet another historic performance by winning the gold medal in the women’s 48kg category at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow. The victory marked her third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal, completing a remarkable hat-trick after her triumphs at Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022. With this achievement, Mirabai also opened India’s gold medal tally at the Glasgow Games, reinforcing her status as one of the country’s greatest weightlifters.
