The global smartphone shipments fell by 4 percent in the second quarter of 2026, according to the latest research report by Omdia. The report highlights that the ongoing memory and storage components shortage disrupted supply chains and drove their prices. Despite the RAM shortage, Samsung and Apple registered market share growth of 2 percent and 4 percent, respectively. Samsung retained its top position with a 22 percent market share, while Apple took the second spot with a 20 percent market share. Unlike Samsung and Apple, the handset makers, including Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo, reportedly witnessed a decline in their market share.
