Squadron Leader Avani Chaturvedi became the first Indian woman to fly a fighter jet solo after the Indian Air Force opened the fighter stream to women in 2015. Commissioned in 2016 alongside Bhawana Kanth and Mohana Singh, she completed her landmark solo flight in a MiG-21 Bison on February 19, 2018. Her journey from Madhya Pradesh to the cockpit reflects a significant milestone in India’s military aviation and opportunities for women.
