A family in Anand district, Gujarat, experienced a terrifying shock earlier this week when they discovered a seven-foot crocodile inside their bathroom late at night. The homeowner, Balabhai Chauhan, was awakened by dogs barking relentlessly outside and went to inspect the area, only to come face-to-face with the massive crocodile. Following a panicked call to the forest department, a joint team of forest guards and local foundation volunteers arrived at the scene, successfully capturing the crocodile unharmed after nearly an hour-long effort before releasing it back into a nearby pond.
Forest officials explained that such incidents become more common during the monsoon season, as rising water levels force crocodiles out of their natural habitats to seek food and regulate their body temperature. With a pond in the neighboring village of Malataj alone housing more than a hundred crocodiles, the risk of these crocodiles straying into roads and residential areas increases during high water levels.
