Punjab’s political battlefield is expanding beyond traditional vote banks, with Gen Z emerging as an increasingly important constituency ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. The Congress is looking at younger faces, while the Shiromani Akali Dal is also trying to connect with young voters. Party president Sukhbir Singh Badal recently met protesting students in Bathinda and at Punjabi University in Patiala, signalling an attempt to reach out to a generation beyond the party’s traditional support base.
