In a significant intervention, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has broken his silence on the controversy surrounding abusive slogans raised against him during the anti-paper leak protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. In an Instagram video released late at night, the Prime Minister said he was deeply disturbed by the language used against him and his late mother. However, instead of calling for punishment, he appealed for understanding and guidance for those involved. For the first time since the controversy erupted, PM Modi has directly addressed the abusive remarks, signalling that while he strongly disagrees with the language used, he believes reconciliation and guidance are more important than anger and retaliation.
