Former Governor of Bihar, Tripura and West Bengal, educationist and Padma Shri awardee D Y Patil died at his residence in Kolhapur on Tuesday after a prolonged illness. He was 91. Founder of the D Y Patil group of educational institutions, Patil was recognised for his contributions to higher education and public service. He is survived by his children, including Congress MLC Satej Patil. His family described his death as an irreparable loss.
