The fury of the Himalayas has unleashed devastation in Nepal’s Rasuwa district near the Tibet border. A massive flash flood has swept away villages, bridges, roads and hydropower projects, leaving at least nine people dead and hundreds missing, including 105 Indians. Rescue operations are being hampered by continuous rain, difficult terrain and damaged roads, as authorities race to reach the worst-hit areas and determine what triggered the disaster.
