Visuals from a school in Nagpur show children being escorted to safety with the help of safety ropes as rescue personnel carefully guided them through waterlogged sections of the campus of Somalwar School. Torrential rainfall brought parts of Nagpur to a standstill after the city received an extraordinary 110 mm of rain in just two hours, triggering widespread flooding across several low-lying areas. Parents expressed anger over the condition of roads and questioned the authorities over recurring flooding that put children’s lives at risk. An orange alert has been issued as heavy rains continue.
