The Karur stampede case, in which 41 people lost their lives, has once again become the centre of a fierce political battle in Tamil Nadu.
The controversy escalated after TVK Minister Aadhav Arjuna said the party had a “score to settle” in Karur, alleging that the tragedy was the result of actions by the then DMK government. The DMK hit back, accusing the ruling party of politicising the tragedy and questioning its handling of the case.
