Jharkhand student leader Devendra Nath Mahato has called off his hunger strike after the Hemant Soren government cancelled exams and government job recruitments following weeks of student protests. Mahato, who is undergoing treatment at Ranchi’s Sadar Hospital, ended his fast after meeting ministers and MLAs who visited him. Thanking the government, he said the ongoing probe was targeting those involved in examination irregularities. Mahato also said students would continue supporting efforts to eliminate corruption and cooperate with the government’s reform process.
