SBI VC Trade has introduced a lending service for its yen-backed stablecoin, JPYSC, offering an initial annualised yield of 3 percent for a 12-week lending period. The initiative expands the utility of the regulated stablecoin beyond payments and into yield generation. While SBI says the returns exceed those of traditional savings accounts, the company has cautioned that the product is not a bank deposit and carries investment risks.
