A fresh political controversy has erupted after 117 prominent citizens from India and Pakistan jointly appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to resume dialogue and end the “continued hostility” between the two countries.
The signatories include Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Manoj Jha, Wajahat Habibullah, along with several Pakistani academics, lawyers, and former diplomats. The letter calls for the restoration of diplomatic relations, visa services, trade, air connectivity, and structured engagement between the two neighbours.
