The government has asked “app stores” to take down two apps that were being used to play “pranks”, where people were remotely shutting down e-rickshaws from their smartphones, the Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), S. Krishnan, told ANI. The bureaucrat also said that both apps have since been taken down by the app storage. While the official claims that the two apps have been taken down in accordance with the government’s direction, Gadgets 360 staff members found that one of the two apps is still listed on Apple’s App Store and the Google Play Store.
