Six IIT Madras professors have been awarded the prestigious ANRF J. C. Bose Grant for their outstanding contributions to scientific research. The recipients—Prof. Sujatha Srinivasan, Prof. Thalappil Pradeep, Prof. Deepa Venkitesh, Prof. Jitendra S. Sangwai, Prof. Ramakrishnan Swaminathan and Prof. Sundargopal Ghosh—are recognised for pioneering work in prosthetics, clean water, optical communications, carbon capture, biomedical engineering and chemistry. The grant provides ₹25 lakh annually for five years to support frontier research.
