In his first major electoral declaration, Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor announced he will contest the Bankipur Assembly bypoll, framing the contest as a “referendum” on the two‑month‑old BJP‑led government under Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. Addressing a press conference in Patna, Kishor said if the BJP wins, it will show it still enjoys public support, but a Jan Suraaj victory should force the ruling party to “read the writing on the wall”. He also promised a “new kind of politics” in Bihar, asserting he is not contesting just to win a seat but to start a broader political movement.
