The Indian Armed Forces are reportedly reviewing the Agnipath recruitment scheme and have proposed increasing the permanent retention of Agniveers after their four-year tenure. The Indian Navy has suggested retaining up to 70–75% of recruits, while the Indian Army and Indian Air Force have proposed raising retention to 50%. Additional welfare measures are also under consideration. However, the Ministry of Defence has not officially approved any changes, and the existing 25% retention policy remains in effect.
