The West Bengal government has declared July 6 a statewide public holiday to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, with government offices, educational institutions and other state-run bodies set to remain closed. It also observed a half-day holiday on July 1 for Doctors’ Day, honouring former Chief Minister Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy and his contributions to medicine and public service.
