The Centre has stepped up political outreach over the proposed delimitation exercise, engaging with key INDIA bloc parties including the Samajwadi Party (SP), DMK, and NCP (Sharad Pawar faction).
According to sources, the DMK has sought assurances on Tamil Nadu’s interests before taking a final position. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju is learnt to have urged Rahul Gandhi to support the proposal, while Rahul Gandhi reportedly suggested that the government should convene an all-party meeting on the issue.
Government sources say the outreach is aimed at building wider political consensus on delimitation, which remains one of the most politically sensitive issues before Parliament and the states.
