In a landmark judgment, the Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court convicted former Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal in the 2013 sexual assault case and made several strong observations on how the trial was conducted.
Speaking to NDTV, correspondent Sujata Dwivedi highlights the court’s key findings, including its remark that “the survivor was put on trial” and its criticism of stereotypical assumptions about how a “perfect victim” is expected to behave. The High Court also faulted the trial court’s approach while overturning Tarun Tejpal’s acquittal.
