Apple has agreed to acquire Czech materials science company PlasmaSolve through a subsidiary, according to a notice published on the European Commission’s website. The company develops plasma simulation software that helps manufacturers refine production processes and model advanced coatings. Its MatSight platform supports physical vapour deposition simulations used in manufacturing. Although Apple has not revealed its plans for the acquisition, the technology could help improve production techniques for future devices expected to feature new materials, finishes and industrial designs.
