The United Doctors Front has filed a Public Interest Litigation in the Supreme Court seeking implementation of the Residency Scheme, 1992, for resident doctors. Listed for oral mentioning on July 23, 2026, through AOR Dr Charu Mathur, the petition seeks regulated duty hours, weekly offs, adequate rest and safer working conditions. The matter highlights concerns around resident doctors’ workload, training responsibilities and the connection between doctor welfare and patient safety.
